Students were asked to design a space based on the design style we studied on. I chose to study Art Deco style because of the time and culture involved with this artistic style and its wide horizon applied to fashion, jewelry, furniture, architecture and interior. Chrysler Building in New York City is a well-known Art Deco style architecture. Its ups and downs are a part of the American history in addition to the architecture history. · The cigar bar on the top floor of Chrysler Building, Cloud Club, opened in July 1930 with some three hundred members, all wealthy males who formed the city's elite. A member had to be elected, and if accepted, paid an initial fee of $200, plus a $150 to $300 annual fee. Members moved to other city and joined other clubs. Cloud Club closed in 1945. Space was rented to be offices. I designed the Sky Club, a cigar club that is women only and it accepts membership to any female within the city. The goal of Sky Club is to provide a space to all women with different backgrounds to connect with each other and to support each other.
