Residential Renovation - Adare Road
Summer 2015
Built in 1974 this colonial house is occupied by a family of four. After living in this house since 2000 the home owners need a fresh look of the interior and furnishings. The goals are to renovate children’s bathroom upstairs, to bring in more color to brighten up the space, and to bring in more light to the staircase.
The main inspiration is bubble. Bubbles from the river, bubbles in the air ……. Designer used river theme for children’s bathroom by installing bubble tiles on black hexagon tiles shaped as a river stream. Bubble tiles extend to the shower stall walls to make the entire space look vibrant and energetic. In the living room dark gray texture wall papers were installed on the main wall as a dark background, and colorful ottomans and a theme signature heart-shaped chairs were placed. This living room faces east so it is full of sun light in the morning but the wall between staircase blocks the nature sun light in the stair case. Designer had the wall cut into several circle shapes to project the bubble theme in the house. The circle holes on the wall bring in nature sun light in the stair case. Designer also designed the vanity cabinet for the master bathroom and it was constructed by a wood work artist from Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market.
